Beijing’s leadership has presented a plan to stimulate the development of the hospitality industry, aimed at turning the city into a global tourist center by 2029. This is reported by China Daily, a partner of the TV BRICS network.

According to the plan, the tourist gross value added by this time will be more than 5 percent of the city’s GDP. It is also expected that the number of visitors to the capital of the People’s Republic of China will increase annually by more than 2 percent, and the corresponding income by about 4 percent per year. In addition, experts predict an increase in the tourist flow from abroad by 5 percent annually.

“We will create a balanced and organized infrastructure throughout the city and develop unique tourist areas, taking into account the resources available in them,” said Yang Shuo, head of the Beijing Municipal Bureau of Culture and Tourism.

In addition, the agency has concluded strategic cooperation agreements with four major banks in China. The documents suggest that financial institutions will allocate about 150 billion yuan (more than 2 trillion rubles) in the form of loans and financial support for the development of tourism.

Beijing also plans to gradually eliminate booking requirements for visiting attractions and increase the opening hours of several popular museums.

Another important initiative presented by the city authorities was the improvement of infrastructure around the Great Wall of China. In particular, it is planned to launch six routes along the historical monuments of this landmark, expand the range of tourist products and build high-quality guest houses.

According to China Daily, in the first three quarters of this year, Beijing received 280 million travelers. This brought the city a record revenue of 504 billion yuan (over 6.8 trillion rubles).
