Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov held talks with Deputy Prime Minister – Kazakh Foreign Minister Murat Nurtleu during a working visit to Astana. This is reported by the press service of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
According to Lavrov, relations between the two states are on the rise. He also stressed that the parties are expanding multilateral forms of cooperation in the Collective Security Treaty Organization (CSTO), the Eurasian Economic Union (EAEU), the Commonwealth of Independent States (CIS), the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO) and BRICS.
As noted by the Business Kazakhstan news agency, a partner of the TV BRICS network, the invitation of the republic to the group as a partner was one of the key issues of the meeting.
Lavrov and Nurtleu also reviewed trade, economic, cultural, humanitarian and energy projects in Moscow and Astana, including the modernization of the Central Asia-Center gas pipeline. In addition, they discussed preparations for the state visit of Russian President Vladimir Putin to Kazakhstan, which is scheduled for November 27.
The BRICS participants at the unification summit, which took place on October 22-24, agreed on a list of “ten” partner states. According to Putin, this list will be made public after receiving a positive response from these countries to the invitation to participate in the group in this format.
