On November 8, in Sochi, on the sidelines of the first ministerial conference of the Russia-Africa Partnership Forum, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov met with Minister of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi Albert Shingiro.
The foreign ministers discussed in detail topical issues of further strengthening the traditionally friendly Russian-Burundian relations, with an emphasis on the need to intensify mutually beneficial trade, economic and investment partnership and increase cooperation on educational and humanitarian lines.
They also stressed the constant commitment of Russia and Burundi to deepen political dialogue and close coordination at the UN and other international platforms in the interests of solving global and regional problems based on the fundamental principles of international law and the UN Charter.
The Ministers signed a Memorandum of Understanding on political consultations between the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Development Cooperation of the Republic of Burundi.
