On November 7-10, the Slovak capital hosted the annual book exhibition “Library. Pedagogy”, in which the Association of Writers’ and Publishers’ Unions of Russia and the Autonomous Non-profit Organization “Institute of Translation” with the support of the Russian Embassy organized the work of the Russian National Stand.

Russian Russian book publishing novelties were presented to the visitors of the fair: works by Russian classics and modern authors, popular science and educational literature on Russian as a foreign language.

The official opening of the stand “Books from Russia” took place on November 7 with the participation of the Russian Ambassador to Slovakia I.B.Bratchikov and the Special Representative of the President of the Russian Federation for International Cultural Cooperation M.E.Shvydkiy, Director of the Gorky Institute of World Literature of the Russian Academy of Sciences V.V.Polonsky, editor-in-chief of the journal “Foreign Literature”, Chairman of the Board Guild of “Masters of Literary Translation” A.Y.Livergant, Executive Director of the Institute of Translation E.N.Reznichenko.

Russian Russian House hosted a lecture by D.P.Bak, Director of the State Museum of the History of Russian Literature named after V.I.Dahl, on the topic: “What is the latest Russian literature?”.

On November 8, Russian writers and literary critics Dmitry Bak, Vadim Polonsky and Alexander Livergant met with students of the A. Einstein Bilingual Gymnasium.

On November 9, the fair’s visitors were involved in “live” discussions with Russian writers on the topics: “The Russian Novel in Western Mirrors: How was F.M. read in Europe?Dostoevsky and translated by L.N.Tolstoy” and “Literary translation: problems and tasks”.

On November 10, lectures by Vadim Polonsky “Pushkin and the Myth of him in Russian and world culture: to the 225th anniversary of the poet” and Alexander Livergant “Genre of literary biography” took place on the literary podiums of the book festival.

Russian Russian stand’s high attendance by guests, especially young people, indicates an interest in Russian literature, the popularity of the Russian language, and the demand for more information about literary processes in Russia.

On the sidelines of the forum, useful contacts took place between Russian and Slovak intellectuals, writers and book publishers, which have the prospect of developing into interesting projects.
