In 2002-2006 — Senior Adviser, Head of the Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in 2006-2011 — Adviser-Envoy of the Embassy of the Russian Federation in the Republic of South Africa, in 2011-2014 – Deputy Director of the Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry, in 2014-2019 — Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia and Plenipotentiary Representative to the Part—time in the African Union, in 2019-2020 – Deputy Director of the Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry. Since October 2020, he has been Director of the Africa Department of the Russian Foreign Ministry.
