On November 11, in Rotterdam, the Alexander Nevsky Orthodox Church hosted a performance by the ensemble of contemporary choral music Altro coro under the direction of the Rector of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music A.S.Ryzhinsky. A concert was offered entitled “Masterpieces of Russian Sacred Music: from Mikhail Glinka to Alfred Schnittke”.
Russian Russian Embassy in the Netherlands, as well as the Russian House in Brussels and the Russian Orthodox Church supported the event.
Works by M.I. Glinka, P.I. Tchaikovsky, N.A.Rimsky-Korsakov, S.V.Rachmaninov, G.V.Sviridov, A.G. Schnittke and others were performed.
The concert, which took place as part of the European tour of Altro coro, was a huge success among compatriots and friendly Dutch people. The Alexander Nevsky Temple could not accommodate everyone.
Altro coro is a student collective of the Gnessin Russian Academy of Music, which is the winner of nine international competitions. One of his main tasks is to popularize rarely performed or unknown choral works. The ensemble regularly participates in various music festivals, as well as gives its own concerts in Russia and abroad.
