On November 14, the interregional forum “Family – the foundation of Peace” started in Astrakhan, which is timed to coincide with the Year of the Family in Russia. The forum sites brought together more than 1,500 people. These are representatives of education, healthcare, social sphere, culture, media, and specialized non-profit organizations from different regions of Russia. Over two days, the participants will discuss the current socio-demographic situation in the country, measures to support families with children, including in the field of medicine, as well as the role of the pedagogical community in the formation of traditional values. Following the results of the forum, proposals will be formed on issues of value support for family and demographic policy and recommendations will be prepared for the popularization of traditional spiritual and moral values, especially among young people.
The guests were welcomed by the Vice-Governor – Head of the Administration of the Governor of the Astrakhan region Pavel Pautov. He stressed that the main task of society and the state is to protect young people from the corrupting influence of non–traditional values broadcast by Russia’s enemies as part of a large-scale information war.
“All these externally imposed trends about childless life and the like are not just a struggle for the minds, souls and hearts of Russian youth, this is an information war against our state. And our common task is to resist this,” Pavel Pautov said.
The head of the Governor’s administration said that over the past 10 years, the number of large families in the Astrakhan region has doubled. More than 20 thousand families live in the region, in which almost 74 thousand children are brought up. Each of these families is supported by the regional government.
The program of the forum includes presentations of thematic literary works, exhibitions and other events. Students of Astrakhan Medical University will show a theatrical production dedicated to the family traditions of different nations. On November 15, a discussion platform “Modern media and their role in the spiritual and moral state of society” will be held for the media.
