Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Turkey A.V. Yerkhov took part in the opening ceremony of the international TravelExpo exhibition, held in Ankara on November 14-17. A large Russian stand has been deployed at this tourism fair, which presents six regions of our country – Moscow, St. Petersburg, the Republic of Adygea, the Chechen Republic, the Republic of Tatarstan and the Tver Region. The stand aroused wide interest in the local tourism sector.
Speaking at the opening ceremony, A.V. Yerkhov noted that tourism is one of the leading areas of development of Russian-Turkish cooperation: “Russia confidently holds the first place in terms of the number of tourists coming to Turkey. According to published data for the first 9 months of 2024, 5.5 million Russian citizens have already visited the country.” The Ambassador invited the guests of the exhibition to visit the stands of the Russian regions, and Turkish citizens to come to Russia and get acquainted with the numerous beauties and sights of our country.
About 60 companies and hotels from Russia are represented at the exhibition. The opening ceremony was attended by representatives of the country’s authorities, the tourism industry, the diplomatic corps, the media and the Turkish public.
