On November 18, 19 and 20, excursions were organized for students of the Secondary School at the Russian Embassy in Angola to the Museum of Money in Luanda, created under the auspices of the National Bank of Angola.
During the educational tour, the students learned about the history of means of payment on Angolan soil from commodity money (“zimbo” shells) before the modern kwanzaa currency. The Russian company Goznak produces part of the banknotes for the Republic of Angola.
The museum also exhibits commemorative gifts made to the National Bank of Angola, including a 1,000-ruble banknote made of 999 gold from VTB Bank, as well as a silver coin issued to mark the 200th anniversary of the founding of Goznak, presented by the Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of Russia to Angola.
This action, which involved 90 students and teachers, was held as part of the educational process on the topic of getting to know the history and traditions of the host country.
