EEC – SCC of Belarus: discussion of key issues of customs regulation

Ruslan Davydov, Minister for Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, met with Vladimir Orlovsky, Chairman of the State Customs Committee of the Republic of Belarus, in Minsk.

The parties discussed topical issues of cooperation between the EEC and the State Customs Committee of Belarus concerning the execution of instructions from the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council on the control of the customs value of imported goods, the implementation of common processes in the customs sphere, as well as the development of transit potential and the movement of international transportation vehicles.

In particular, the meeting participants discussed the initiatives of the State Customs Committee of Belarus to clarify a number of provisions of the EAEU law governing the customs procedure of customs transit.

In addition, they drew attention to the need to intensify actions aimed at accelerating the implementation of the agreement on the use of electronic navigation seals, which is one of the key elements of increasing the transparency of the movement of goods through the territory of the EAEU.

According to Ruslan Davydov, close and effective cooperation between the EEC, customs services and the Joint Board of Customs Services is a necessary condition for achieving unified customs regulation in the EAEU.

At the end of the meeting, Ruslan Davydov thanked Vladimir Orlovsky for the active and balanced position of the Belarusian customs service in discussing customs regulation issues at the EEC site.
