A festival of culture and traditions of the BRICS countries for schoolchildren will be held in Moscow

On November 30, 2024, Moscow will host a festival of culture and traditions of the BRICS countries for schoolchildren. It is organized by the Moscow State Institute of International Relations (University) The Ministry of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation and the International TV BRICS Network.

The festival is expected to bring together about 300 students in grades 8-11. Students will get acquainted with the history of the BRICS countries, the cultural identity of different peoples, linguistic diversity and learn about international cooperation in the field of mass communications. MGIMO student community activists will help in the preparation of the event.

“The main agenda of the recent BRICS summit in Kazan was to strengthen multilateralism in global development and security. The training of highly qualified international specialists who speak the languages of the participating countries is one of the key factors for the dynamic development of relations between the BRICS countries. Our university, which studies the main languages of all BRICS countries, plays an important role in this,” said Igor Putintsev, Vice–Rector for Language and Pre-university Training.

Anna Lisina, editor-in-chief of the information portal of the International TV BRICS Network, will hold a master class on the topic at the festival: “TV BRICS for young people: about the traditions of the Ten countries in the language of media”. She will tell students about the work of the multilingual media editorial office, support for the BRICS agenda on social networks and the interaction of TV BRICS with foreign media partners.

“The TV BRICS information portal adheres to a creative information policy and focuses on topics that strengthen international cooperation: culture, diplomacy, education, science, economics, healthcare, innovative technologies, tourism, sports. Every month we create over 1.5 thousand text and video materials in six languages, which are then distributed through a network of foreign media partners. For young people, who make up an important part of our target audience, we are conducting several special projects, for example, a platform for bloggers BRICS Bloggers Team and a section of short videos about national traditions and culture BRICS View. In addition, students of higher educational institutions and young professionals can directly receive assistance and comments from leading experts of the BRICS+ countries through the TV BRICS portal,” said Anna Lisina.

MGIMO, the partner of TV BRICS, is one of the leading Russian and world universities with unique international competencies. The University offers education at all levels and trains specialists in 18 areas. 53 foreign languages are taught at MGIMO (Guinness World Record). In 2020, the university became a member of the World-class Scientific Center. Since 2021, he has been a participant in the state program of support for Russian universities “Priority 2030”.

In total, more than 30 institutions of higher education in Russia, Brazil, India and South Africa, including members of the BRICS Network University, are partners of the international TV BRICS network.

The international TV BRICS network was established in 2017 on the initiative of Russian President Vladimir Putin, who received the support of the heads of state at the IX BRICS summit in China.

TV BRICS is the latest system of regular information exchange between the media of the BRICS+ countries. The interaction of media partners is carried out through the multilingual portal TV BRICS and the TV channel of the same name broadcasting around the clock.

The headquarters of TV BRICS is located in Moscow (Russia). More than 70 media outlets from many countries of the world have already joined the TV BRICS network: Russia, Brazil, India, China, South Africa, Egypt, Iran, UAE, Ethiopia, as well as Argentina, Armenia, Belarus, Venezuela, Vietnam, Zimbabwe, Kazakhstan, Kenya, Colombia, Cuba, Mozambique, Serbia, Tunisia, Chile. The total technical coverage of the TV BRICS partner network exceeds 1.5 billion users.

The mission of TV BRICS is to strengthen cooperation between the BRICS countries and disseminate objective information about the humanitarian and economic activities of the member states and partners of the association. TV BRICS is an official partner of the United Nations, a member of the Organizing Committee for the preparation and provision of the Russian presidency in the BRICS association in 2024.

As an international partner, TV BRICS provides communication and information support for major international events in the BRICS+ countries, provides media support for the activities of government authorities, cultural and higher education institutions, public and non-profit organizations.
