On November 5, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Russian Federation to the Republic of Angola V.N.Tararov gave an interview to the Angolan weekly “Novo Journal”, which was published on November 22.
The main theses:
BRICS does not pose any threat to anyone. The organization is designed to unite countries independent of anyone’s dictates and create truly equal and free from a single decision-making center conditions for mutually beneficial international cooperation in a wide variety of fields. BRICS is not against the West, but it does not belong to the West, which irritates the United States and its allies.
The BRICS Summit in Kazan clearly demonstrated that Russia has never been and is not in international isolation. Attempts to isolate it with the help of sanctions from the West do not find the support of the majority of member states of the international community, which support Russia’s efforts to form a multipolar and fair world order for all without exception.
Unlike the West, Russia is moving closer to Africa not in order to siphon natural resources from the continent, but in order to help African countries strengthen their sovereignty, which would allow them to act on the international stage as independent states and defend their national interests without fear of pressure and threats from former metropolises. And in the end, for a just world order.
the USSR/Russia played a crucial role in Angola’s independence and in protecting the Republic from foreign intervention. Despite the unrestrained pressure from the West, our country provided Angola with comprehensive assistance in organizing the Angolan state, strengthening its sovereign mechanisms, creating defensively capable armed forces, national elites, etc. Now it is Angola’s turn to confirm in practice, despite Western pressure, friendship and fraternal relations with Russia.
A visit to Angola by J.Biden, after the US presidential election, is more intent on securing the West in the largest and most important project for Washington, the Lobitu Corridor, for pumping natural resources out of Africa. The nature of Western participation resembles the neocolonial approaches of Western states. Angola needs to be especially careful not to fall into the “colonial trap” again.
The Ukrainian crisis was born through the fault of the West, which artificially created it to neutralize Russia as a powerful international player in order to feel invulnerable in achieving its narrow-minded goals at the expense of other states.
It is the West that is doing its best to prevent the creation of conditions for a peaceful solution to the conflict in Ukraine.
