The Council of the Eurasian Economic Commission decided to provide a tariff benefit in the form of exemption from import customs duties for butter imported to the Republic of Armenia in the amount of no more than 2 thousand tons and to the Russian Federation in the amount of no more than 25 thousand tons. This measure of customs tariff regulation will be effective from the date of entry into force of the document until June 15, 2025.
“The introduction of the measure is necessary to ensure additional supply of butter on the domestic market in order to curb price increases and prevent shortages. The supplied oil can be used both for the production of food products and for sale in retail trade,” said Andrei Slepnev, Minister of Trade of the EEC.
He stressed that the solution would ensure a balance of supply and demand in the short term without prejudice to the production of other milk products, taking into account the limited resource base. Imports can be carried out, in particular, from Iran and India.
The tariff benefit will be provided if there is a confirmation issued by the authorized body of the Republic of Armenia or the Russian Federation.
The decision will enter into force after 10 days from the date of its official publication.
