At the IV Congress of Young Scientists at Sirius University of Science and Technology, the winners of the VII BRICS Young Innovators Competition were announced.

The participants worked on projects related to the use of artificial intelligence and green technologies in various industries, including the chemical, food industry and agriculture. The selection of studies was also carried out in a separate nomination “Palladium in future technologies”.

The international jury has selected three winners. The winner was a young scientist from Brazil, Professor of the Federal University of Technology of Paraná Tiago Edvíges. He worked on solving the problem of waste disposal arising from the processing of sugar cane. The researcher proposed using solid and liquid materials to produce fuel based on a mixture of methane and hydrogen.

The second place was taken by the project of Professor Yuan Wu of the University of Science and Technology of China. The development is a new material that can be used in the rubber industry. The new technology will reduce the use of zinc oxide in the manufacture of rubber products, including tires, which will make these products more environmentally friendly.

The development of Russian Dmitry Shadrin from the Skolkovo Institute of Science and Technology took the third place. The researcher presented a draft of a digital wildfire prevention system based on an updated geographical grid, weather forecast data and information about previous fires processed by artificial intelligence. It is assumed that the accuracy of such a model can reach 85 percent.

The winner of the special nomination was Chinese representative Xin Cai from Tongji University in Shanghai. The researcher obtained new samples of nanopowders containing palladium. It is assumed that the use of these catalysts in hydrogen energy will make it more efficient and affordable for mass use.

This year, over 7 thousand people from more than 60 countries are taking part in the events of the Congress of Young Scientists. The TV BRICS network is the official international partner of the event. The organizers are the Roscongress Foundation, the Ministry of Science and Higher Education of the Russian Federation and the Coordinating Council for Youth Affairs in the Scientific and Educational Spheres of the Presidential Council for Science and Education.
