Russia to supply cars for taxi company in Cuba

The Government of Moscow and the Ministry of Transport of Cuba have signed a memorandum of intent in the field of taxi development. The signing ceremony was attended by Maxim Liksutov, Deputy Mayor of the Russian capital for Transport and Industry, and Eduardo Rodriguez Davila, head of the Cuban Ministry of Transport.

The document provides for the joint implementation of a project to create a taxi company in a Latin American country. The basis of the company will be cars made in Moscow. To this end, a working group has been established to develop a business model and an investment plan for the initiative.

The Russian side intends to supply 50 cars. In addition, the possibility of adapting their multimedia system into Spanish is being considered.

Maxim Liksutov invited representatives of the Cuban Ministry of Transport to study at the Corporate University of the Moscow Transport Complex. According to the deputy mayor, the capital’s government is always ready to share its experience and advanced developments with foreign partners.

The meeting also discussed the possibility of Havana joining the international analytical platform UrbanTransportData developed by the Moscow government, which allows participating cities to share information about the state and development of the transport system.
