About the forum “Civil Initiatives of the regions of the 60th parallel”

On December 12, the IX International Humanitarian Forum “Civil Initiatives of the regions of the 60th Parallel” ended in Khanty-Mansiysk. The Forum has become a tactical platform for finding concrete solutions to improve the quality of interaction between the state, business and the non-profit sector. The event brought together more than 600 participants from 18 regions of Russia and 7 countries.

As part of the forum’s events, a project session was held – lecturers of the Russian Society “Znanie” spoke to volunteers and representatives of non-profit organizations and authorities. The event was held in the format of an open dialogue.

Yevgeny Tkachev, the head of projects for the preservation of historical memory in the Republic of Poland, explained how our country is perceived in the West and where Russophobia comes from. He noted the targeted disinformation campaign in foreign media, presenting Russia exclusively in a negative light.

Nenad Stankovic, Chairman of the Serbian-Russian Friendship Society, presented the view of Serbian politicians on the breakup of Yugoslavia and its consequences. International analyst Christian Lamesa shared what is the difference in the perception of Russia between residents of Western countries and Latin American countries.

Vitaly Pirogov, the Third Secretary of the Representative Office of the Russian Foreign Ministry in Yekaterinburg, spoke about the role played by public diplomacy against the background of Russia’s increasing sovereignty in the economic, political, cultural and civilizational spheres.
