On December 28, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov held a telephone conversation with Foreign Minister of Azerbaijan Jeyhun Bayramov.
Following up on today’s dialogue between President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the ministers discussed the developments that followed the crash of a passenger plane operated by Azerbaijan Airlines on December 25 near the Kazakh city of Aktau.
The ministers reiterated the presidents’ commitment to carrying out the most comprehensive investigation into this tragedy, conveyed heartfelt condolences to the victims’ families, and wished a swift recovery to those injured.
The parties emphasised the importance of determining the causes of the incident, implementing urgent measures to prevent similar occurrences in the future, and resolving the matter comprehensively and conclusively, taking all circumstances into account.
The participants exchanged views about the upcoming Russian-Azerbaijani contacts at the top and high levels.
