Iran will launch the Shahid Soleimani satellite constellation at the end of March 2025. This was announced by the head of the Iranian Space Agency Hassan Salarie, Mehr News Agency, a partner of the TV BRICS network, reports.
It is specified that the grouping, designed to expand the country’s capabilities in the field of the Internet of Things (IoT), will consist of 20 satellites, which are currently under development.
Salarie also said that the Nahid 2 and Nahid 3 spacecraft are ready for launch, and tests will be conducted in early 2025 before the group’s main mission, scheduled for 2026. Testing is expected to help eliminate possible problems in orbit.
According to the head of the agency, many spacecraft have already completed their task and decommissioned, however, the Mehda research satellite, launched in February 2023, currently continues to function actively as a telecommunications platform in orbit.
He also drew attention to the fact that the devices are being developed by Iranian state universities, which plays a key role in training specialists and developing basic space technologies.
