In 2024, under the chairmanship of Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Vershinin, 9 meetings of the Commission were held, during which 49 citizens’ applications were reviewed in connection with the refusal to issue/issue foreign passports and travel abroad due to awareness of information classified as a state secret.
Following the results of the study of the requests of the Commission’s secretariat, the heads of relevant departments and organizations decided to lift the previously established restrictions on leaving the Russian Federation from 14 citizens.
In respect of 33 citizens, the Commission considered the decisions to restrict their right to travel outside the Russian Federation to be justified. At the same time, in some cases, the terms of the originally established restrictions were shortened.
Within the framework of the new powers, the Commission adopted one binding decision on the need for the citizen’s former employer to review the contested decision on the temporary restriction of his right to leave the Russian Federation.
The applications of 33 citizens were withdrawn from consideration by the Commission at the stage of their study by the Commission’s secretariat as not falling within its competence.
The first meeting of the Commission in 2025 is scheduled for early February.
