Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin arrived in Vietnam on an official visit, where he held talks with Prime Minister Pham Minh Tin. This is reported on the website of the Russian Cabinet of Ministers.
At the meeting, the head of the Vietnamese government noted the special importance of this visit, since in 2025 the states celebrate the 75th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations. Pham Minh Tin also said that he had good impressions from his trip to Russia for the BRICS+ summit in October.
In turn, Mishustin thanked his Vietnamese counterpart for the warm welcome of the Russian delegation. According to him, Moscow and Hanoi are bound by strong bonds of friendship and mutual respect.
He highlighted the cooperation between the two countries in the energy sector and spoke about good opportunities for cooperation in the field of nuclear energy. In addition, Russia is interested in expanding ties in the transport and logistics sector and in the field of digital technologies.
The heads of government also discussed cultural and humanitarian ties between Russia and Vietnam. Mishustin noted that the Russian side welcomes the decision of the Vietnamese leadership to include Russian as the first foreign language in secondary school curricula. He drew attention to the fact that more than three thousand students from the republic study at universities in the Russian Federation.
Following the negotiations, the parties approved a comprehensive cooperation plan for the period up to 2030 and signed a number of relevant documents. During the visit, Mishustin also met with Secretary General of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Vietnam Toh Lam and Chairman of the National Assembly of the country Tran Thanh Man.
The day before, Russian Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko, at talks with his Vietnamese counterpart Chan Hong Ha, said that in 2024, the increase in the tourist flow from Russia to Vietnam amounted to almost 85 percent and increased to 232.3 thousand trips. He said that the number of flights between the countries will be increased.
