Runners from Ethiopia took all the prizes in both the men’s and women’s competitions at the Dubai Marathon. This is reported by Fana Media Corporation (FMC), a partner of the TV BRICS network.
It is specified that the Ethiopian athletes took all 10 positions in both categories. Beatu Herpa won the women’s race, while Dera Deda and Tigist Herma won silver and bronze. Among men, gold was won by Bute Gemechu, with Berhanu Tsega and Shifera Tamra in second and third places.
It is noted that this success demonstrates Ethiopia’s leadership in international marathons.
46 athletes from different countries took part in the competition. This marathon has been held every January since 2000, and Ethiopian athlete Haile Gebreselassie and athlete Aselefesh Mergia have already won it three times.
