The Russian Ambassador to Conakry, A.V. Popov, visited Phrygia and got acquainted with the work of the Phrygia bauxite-alumina complex. This is one of the three enterprises of UC RUSAL in Guinea.
Built in the early 1960s, the Phrygia plant is currently the only alumina-producing enterprise operating not only in Guinea, but throughout Africa. A full production cycle is organized here, from bauxite mining to the production of alumina, a semi–finished product, which is then sent to aluminum plants in Russia.
The company is a city–forming one, employing more than 1.2 thousand local specialists. With the assistance of Phrygia, the city’s population is provided with water supply, various social facilities, roads are being built, and other infrastructure is being developed.
