On January 6, a delegation of staff and family members of the Russian Embassy in Guatemala attended a Christmas event at the Lavra Mambre Orthodox Holy Trinity Monastery, led by Abbess Madre Ines Ayau, a knight of the Russian Order of Friendship. The delegates got acquainted with the unique architecture of the monastery built in the ancient Russian church style, the paintings of Kostroma icon painters, Russian icons and bells.

The rite of consecration of Lake Amatitlan, the festive liturgy and the meal that followed it contributed to the further strengthening of spiritual ties with the Orthodox Guatemalans in the framework of the international promotion of traditional values.

The Charge d’affaires of Russia in Guatemala, M.V. Raku, presented the icon of the Blessed Virgin Mary “Svensko-Pecherskaya”, consecrated in the Svensky Assumption Monastery, as a gift to the holy monastery, the most ancient Shrine of the Bryansk Land, which nowadays repels the terrorists of the Kiev regime.
