The Board of the Eurasian Economic Commission has decided to impose an anti-dumping duty on cast aluminum wheels from Japan, Thailand, Turkey and Malaysia.
The measure will apply to both new and used discs with a diameter of 13 to 20 inches inclusive, whether or not equipped with a tire. Its validity period will be five years. The duty is set at 9.38-42.82% of the customs value, depending on the country of manufacture.
The decision was made following the results of an anti-dumping investigation launched by the EEC Department for the Protection of the Internal Market on March 1, 2023, at the request of the association of Aluminum Producers, Suppliers and Consumers.
According to the results of the investigation, the presence of dumping imports of goods originating from these countries and material damage to the economic sector of the Eurasian Economic Union has been established.
“The pricing policy of manufacturers of cast aluminum wheels from dumping countries has led to the fact that our own companies, in terms of losing market share in the domestic market, have not been able to increase the selling price in proportion to the increase in its cost. As a result, their sales became unprofitable, and the profitability of production was negative,” explained Andrei Slepnev, Minister for Trade of the EEC.
The decision will enter into force in 30 calendar days from the date of its official publication.
