On January 16, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Russian Federation Sergey Lavrov met with the Head of State Republic of Sakha (Yakutia) Alexander Nikolayev, who shared his assessments of the development of international cooperation with foreign countries, the results of visits in 2024 to friendly countries, in particular to Belarus, Kazakhstan and Kyrgyzstan, and also spoke about the prospects of holding major international events this year, including within the framework of the Northern Forum organization, and plans to increase cooperation with UNESCO.
Sergey Lavrov noted the efforts made by the leadership of Yakutia to actively expand the geography of its external relations and reformat economic contacts. The readiness of the Russian Foreign Ministry and the Ministry’s Representative Office in Yakutsk to provide all possible assistance to this work was emphasized.
