Lu Hao, head of the Development Research Center of the State Council of the People’s Republic of China, said that the Chinese side intends to create a Global South Center to stimulate interaction between northern and southern states, as well as promote the exchange of experience. Lu Hao made the relevant statement after a meeting with Ethiopian Finance Minister Ahmed Shide. During the talks, the president of the Development Research Center of the State Council of China also noted that at the third summit of the Forum on Sino-African Cooperation (FOCAC), Beijing supported a dialogue between experts from think tanks to develop public policy in Africa.
Speaking about the establishment of the Global South Center, Lu Hao stressed that this institution will become a platform for expanding international relations and strengthening cooperation between developing countries. In addition, the center will develop policy strategies aimed at supporting progress in African countries.
In turn, Ahmed Shid pointed out the importance of creating this center for global development. He also drew attention to the fact that China’s economic ties with Ethiopia and Africa as a whole contribute to the growth of the continent.
