A series of publications about world-famous foreign writers who collaborated with the publication Abroad, which celebrates 95 years since its foundation, will be published in Russia. The project “Abroad – in touch with the world” will tell about Ernest Hemingway, Heinrich Mann, Roger Versel, Romain Rolland, Andor Gabor and other authors from different countries. At one time, their works on important social issues were published in a popular Soviet publication. The jubilee cycle will be prepared by the information and educational project “Modern Russian” of the international network TV BRICS together with the publication “Abroad”. The materials will be available to a wide audience on both resources.

The newspaper Abroad was founded in 1930 on the initiative of the world-renowned writer Alexei Maximovich Gorky, who became its first editor-in-chief. Today, “Abroad” operates in the format of an online publication and is part of the Eurasian Media Group. He specializes in the international agenda, as well as topics of economics, science, culture and art.

“2025 is an anniversary year for us: Abroad celebrates the 95th anniversary of the first issue of the publication and the 65th anniversary since the magazine was relaunched. At one time, the newspaper Abroad became a real window to Europe, America and other parts of the world for Soviet readers. Gorky invited representatives of diplomatic missions in different countries, leaders of foreign social democratic parties and emigrants sympathetic to the Soviet Union to cooperate. Using his authority in the literary world, he recruited prominent intellectuals from the humanities to work in the publication. In fact, Abroad served as an information hub, which is now being implemented at a new level by the TV BRICS network, which has created a technology for multilateral information exchange between media from around the world,” said Elena Bobkova, editor–in-chief of the online publication Abroad.

Russian Russian is an international information and educational project created in 2007 with the aim of popularizing the Russian language, improving the literacy rate of the population and providing linguistic assistance. It is implemented by the international TV BRICS network. In terms of the range of practical philology activities, it has no analogues in Russia and abroad. The project’s information resources and consulting services are used in more than 150 countries around the world.
