A meeting of the expert group on finalizing and approving the draft Regulations on the Forum of Volunteers of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on February 4 at the CIS headquarters.

The meeting was attended by representatives of Azerbaijan, Belarus, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Russia, Tajikistan, Uzbekistan and the CIS Executive Committee.

During the discussion, the experts basically finalized the document, which it was decided to send to the CIS member states for proposals.

After the study, the experts agreed to hold an additional meeting, after which the draft will be submitted in due course to the Council of Heads of Government of the Commonwealth of Independent States.

It should be noted that the initiative to establish a Volunteer Forum and give it the status of a permanent CIS site belongs to the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev.

This initiative meets the goals and objectives of the Concept of Developing Cooperation among the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States in support of the youth volunteer movement.

The Forum is expected to be an annual event aimed at sharing experiences, developing the volunteer movement and strengthening international cooperation in the field of volunteerism in the Commonwealth. The Forum will be held, as a rule, alternately by each CIS member state in the order of the Russian alphabet of names.
