The leadership of Kazakhstan intends to establish clear rules in the field of archaeological research and strengthen responsibility for illegal excavations. The relevant bill has already been submitted to the lower house of the country’s parliament for consideration, Kazinform news agency, a partner of the TV BRICS network, reports.

According to the project, the national archaeological service will operate in the country, providing scientific, consulting, informational, analytical and technical support to researchers. The Agency will also carry out archaeological supervision.

One of the key aspects of the new bill is the state monopoly on the display of antiquities. This will prevent the illegal export of artifacts abroad and ensure their safety in national museums.

It is noted that the measures taken by the authorities and public organizations to preserve historical monuments are already yielding results. According to the Legal Statistics Committee of the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan, the number of offenses in this area in 2024 decreased four times compared to the previous year. The country’s leadership continues to actively work to preserve cultural heritage, as well as promote tourism through archaeological sites.

The Agency emphasizes that the popularization of cultural monuments contributes to the development of the tourism industry. There are already six UNESCO World Heritage sites in Kazakhstan, and this number may increase in the future.
