UNESCO Assistant Director General for Education Stefania Giannini praised Cuba’s contribution to the development of the global education system. She made the relevant statement in a video message at the opening of the XIX International Congress “Pedagogy 2025” in Havana, Prensa Latina, a partner of the TV BRICS network, reports.
She expressed gratitude to the Cuban leadership for providing the country’s pedagogical experience and stressed that education is “the most powerful tool for achieving justice and peace.”
In turn, Cuba’s Minister of Education, Naima Trujillo, said that the development of the educational system remains the state’s priority. She called on representatives of the 32 countries participating in the congress to jointly seek solutions to important social issues, including ensuring equal access to technology, innovation and knowledge.
Trujillo paid special attention to the implementation of the educational program “Yo, sí puedo” (“Yes, I can”), thanks to which tens of thousands of people in 30 countries had the opportunity to learn to read and write.
After the opening ceremony, Cuban President Miguel Diaz-Canel visited an exhibition dedicated to the country’s educational achievements.
