A joint meeting of the Council for Humanitarian Cooperation (CGS) and the Board of the Interstate Fund for Humanitarian Cooperation (IFGS) of the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States was held on February 14 in Moscow.
The meeting was attended by a delegation of the CIS Executive Committee headed by Deputy Secretary General of the Commonwealth Nurlan Seytimov.
In his welcoming speech to the participants of the meeting, the Deputy Secretary General of the CIS emphasized the priority of the humanitarian sphere, based on historical and cultural commonalities, spiritual traditions and values, and trust between peoples, for the development of mutually beneficial cooperation between the Commonwealth countries.
Referring to the activities of the CGS and the IFGS Board, he also noted the significant work carried out within the framework of joint meetings in 2024, outlined the contribution to the implementation of landmark cultural and humanitarian events, such as the Interstate Program “Cultural Capitals of the Commonwealth”, the Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia, the Forum of Scientists of the CIS Member States (in Dushanbe) and a number of others contributing to the further strengthening of the common humanitarian space.
More than 20 issues were discussed at the meeting. Among them are changes in the staff of the CGS and IFGS, organizational and financial aspects of the work of the Intergosfond, issues related to the preparation and holding of the interstate awards “Stars of the Commonwealth” and “Commonwealth of Debuts”, the XVIII Forum of Creative and Scientific Intelligentsia of the CIS member states.
The participants of the joint meeting discussed the proposal of the Uzbek side on the establishment of the international folklore and ethnographic festival “Caravan of folk Art”. It is planned that the festival will contribute to the wide promotion of folklore art among the youth of the CIS countries, the preservation and development of harmony and diversity of national cultures and the intangible cultural heritage of the CIS member states, the popularization of traditional art and its integration into a modern lifestyle, and the strengthening of international cultural cooperation.
The meeting also summed up the implementation of the Action Plan for the Year of the Volunteer Movement in the CIS in 2024, the V Forum of Scientists and the VIII Congress of Teachers and Educators of the CIS member States, and discussed the implementation of the Decision of the Council of CIS Heads of State “On the honorary title of the Commonwealth of Independent States “City of Labor Glory. 1941-1945.”, information was heard about the activities of the International Association (Commission) of Historians and Archivists in 2024.
