Alexander Overchuk: The Council of CIS Heads of Government, which was devoted to the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation between our countries, has ended.

President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin addressed the heads of Government of the member States of the Commonwealth of Independent States with a welcoming speech.

It should be noted that economic relations between the CIS member states are developing very dynamically. Trade between the countries is growing well. All countries show pretty good macroeconomic indicators.

At the same time, we considered that in 2024, when the presidency of the The Commonwealth turns to the Russian Federation, the topic of the development of cultural and humanitarian cooperation, taking into account its importance for preserving the ties that have historically developed between our countries, should be a priority.

In this regard, the heads of our governments exchanged views on a very broad agenda covering issues of culture, education, science, sports, tourism and, of course, first of all, the close, sometimes family ties that have developed between our peoples, between our people, and which, in fact, allow us to maintain the community that It distinguishes all our peoples and our countries.

Following the meeting, the heads of government signed a statement on the prospects for cooperation in the cultural and humanitarian sphere, which aims at maintaining and developing intercultural dialogue, cooperation in the field of education, and in the development of our national languages.

All heads of government noted that within the framework of the Kyrgyz presidency, which is coming to an end this year, an important document was signed on the creation of an International organization for the Russian Language, which will work in Sochi and which was created on the initiative and at the suggestion of the President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Kemelevich Tokayev.

The statement also contains a part concerning the development of institutional cooperation in the cultural sphere. Tours, film festivals, exhibitions will be held – a variety of cultural events that will continue to bring our countries and peoples closer together – so that the younger generation who live in our countries can also say that they are part of this cultural and historical community, our Commonwealth of Independent States.
