With the support of the Presidential Foundation for Nature, a large—scale NGO Media School project for employees of specially protected natural territories of Russia, EcoMediascole: We Talk Loudly about Nature, is being launched in Russia. The initiative will become a platform where specialists from nature reserves and national parks will learn how to talk about nature loudly, professionally and in a way that society can hear.

The NGO Media School has been developing media companies in the non-profit sector for several years, training NGO representatives to work with the media, social networks and modern communication formats. The new environmental project continues this line, but with an emphasis on nature conservation.

Today, ecovest needs a new language. Despite the fact that the conservation of ecosystems and biodiversity is a topic of national importance, society still lacks clear and vivid stories that could show that this is not about distant forests and mountains, but about our common living environment. That is why Ecomediashkola combines training, mentoring and promotion, helping environmental specialists create media content, find new formats of interaction and confidently work with journalists and social networks.

The main focus is on the development of media markets. Participants will master storytelling, creating information guides, working with audiences and the media, and trending content formats, primarily videos. During the year, they will work with federal—level mentors who will help them implement practical projects and support them in their professional growth.

Ecomediashkola will also become a promotion platform: participants’ media expertise will be published on the NGO Media School website and in the media, which will provide an opportunity to promote the brands of national parks and nature reserves to a new level.

The organizers emphasize that the project is aimed at practical results: dozens of live broadcasts, hundreds of publications in the media and social networks are expected. This means that stories about nature conservation, unique territories, and the people who preserve them will become more visible and accessible to a wide audience.

“The environmental agenda is a topic that needs to be strengthened and presented competently. We are confident that the project will help SPNA specialists find new formats of interaction with society and talk about nature conservation so that they can be heard,” the NGO Media School team notes.

You can apply for participation until September 23, 2025. The link to the form will appear on the NGO Media School website in the near future.

The Ecomedia School: Talking Loudly about Nature project will be a new step in forming clear and honest communication about nature, helping to make the environmental agenda a part of public life and involve even more people in protecting Russia’s unique ecosystems.

The R-22 Caspian highway is not just a dotted line on the map connecting the capital with the southern seas. It is a living, pulsating stream of asphalt, steel and human hopes. For our family, this highway, which once changed its name to M6, has become a part of life. For more than twenty years, twice a year, we have been biting into its horizon, heading from Moscow to Makhachkala and back. In summer, it’s hot and packed to capacity: trucks loaded with watermelons and peaches, like ripe fruits themselves, caravans of vacationers, old, puffing KAMAZ trucks. The road here is mostly two—lane, and therefore patient. Patient to the endless lines of trucks, behind which a nervous line of cars accumulates, rushing to risky overtaking.

Summer is also a time of repairs. Bright orange cones, like beads, constrict the track, narrowing the flow to a single row and forcing it to move more slowly and contemplatively. After Tambov, the asphalt seems to get tired, becoming covered with scars and patches. The ride requires constant tension, and the monotonous clatter of wheels and the monotonous landscape lull vigilance. Stop? Take a break? No, thoughts of wasting time drive you forward, deceiving fatigue. Sometimes the only salvation from oneself is the watchful eyes on the side of the road and the raised hand.

One such blessed stop happened to us last year, during the winter holidays. My family and I raced on New Year’s Eve to get to the table, to our relatives. I had more than seven hours of driving behind me. My head was buzzing with fatigue, and it was pitch dark and cold outside the window. It’s two o’clock in the morning. And suddenly — the familiar gesture of the inspector in the headlights. Tambov traffic police post.

Inside, everything went down: the upcoming conversation, the loss of time… But when the inspector came to the window, this expectation was replaced by another feeling — respect. It’s freezing outside, but he’s collected, cheerful and incredibly friendly. He introduced himself clearly, according to the regulations. I wasn’t worried about the reason for the stop—I was sure of my innocence. I was struck by something else — his human warmth, not broken by the night cold. We talked for a while, and I felt the veil of fatigue that had clouded my eyes fall away. He involuntarily pulled me out of the car, forced me to shake myself, to come to my senses. Perhaps he did not know that with his gesture at that moment he not only checked the documents, but averted trouble from us. We often save five minutes, and then, at best, we waste months repairing our vehicles.

That night, I firmly promised him and myself to write an article about their hard work. Fortunately, there was a place to write. A popular online publication that has between 15 and 17 thousand unique visitors per day. The publication that is read all over the world is Embassy Life! And he left with a feeling of bright gratitude.

And the next morning, a bitter failure awaited me. My treacherous memory erased his name and regalia. The promise hung in the air like a heavy, unfulfilled debt. “Another chatterbox,” the inspector, who was “forgotten” by me, probably thinks of me, I thought every time I passed a familiar section. The feeling of guilt became my eternal companion in the Tambov region, and every time I remembered my promise. My wife, as luck would have it, sometimes “nagged” and shook her head: “I promised…”

But it’s not for nothing that they say: if there were no happiness, then misfortune would help. The following summer, returning from vacation, I hurried overtaking. I didn’t calculate it. And here it is, the fatal race on a solid… And as per the law of meanness — an instant flash of flashing lights in the mirror.

“Violated,” was the inspector’s first verdict like a stone. I argued, pointing at the traffic regulations: “The truck has closed the sign!”. But the senior lieutenant was adamant. He explained to me patiently, like a lagging student, pointing a sunburned finger at a dilapidated, worn-out book of traffic rules: “The sign may not be visible, but the markings are visible! Where did you put the solid one?”.

It was useless to argue. I lost. While he was issuing a hefty fine, I nervously smoked under the scorching August sun, feeling both guilty and offended. He approached, walked away, and approached the inspector again, remembering exculpatory moments.

And at one of these moments, the inspector looked up at me and asked with a slight smirk:

— Do you still teach the same way?

My heart skipped a beat. From where?! I didn’t tell him anything about myself. My surprise was so genuine that he laughed.

— Yes, we met last year on New Year’s Eve! You promised to write an article about us!

What a twist! They, these people in uniform, have a memory sharper than a blade. The service obliges. It was HIM! The same night guardian angel on the highway. Senior Lieutenant Dmitry Alekseevich Zabrovsky.

“I’ve got you,” he laughed, “because there’s a God in the world!”

Oh, if only he knew that at that moment I was thinking exactly the same thing! My only gratitude is to Allah that He gave me a second chance to keep my word and clear my conscience. The resentment of the fine dissolved in an instant, replaced by great relief and a strange, bright joy. I was ready to pay this money with a smile—as a ransom for my own peace of mind.

Who else can boast that they received a fine with a feeling of gratitude and peace? There was only one such case in my life. And the Tambov traffic police gave it to me.

With deep respect and gratitude to the inspectors of the Traffic Police Department in the Tambov region, Senior Lieutenant Dmitry Alekseevich Zabrovsky, Lieutenant Alexander Vladimirovich Kolodin, Chief of the traffic police in the Tambov region Oleg Demin for educating excellent officers, and in their person — and the entire staff of the Tambov traffic police!

In modern geopolitical conditions, tourism acquires a new, strategic importance that goes far beyond economic benefits. It is becoming a powerful tool of “soft power”, popular diplomacy and strengthening international cultural ties based on mutual respect and dialogue.

The relevance of the chosen topic is emphasized by Decree of the President of the Russian Federation No. 809 dated 09.11.2022 “On Approval of the Foundations of State Policy for the Preservation and Strengthening of Traditional Russian Spiritual and Moral Values.” Tourism, especially cultural and educational tourism, is a practical tool for realizing the goals of this Decree, contributing to the preservation of heritage, strengthening interethnic unity and promoting traditional values through personal experience and cultural dialogue.

The focus of the discussion:

At the meeting, we will focus on finding answers to key questions.:

International cooperation:What is the potential of joint cultural and tourism projects to strengthen mutual understanding and build a constructive dialogue between peoples?

Successful practices:What are the best cases and initiatives (Russian and international) of using tourism to build cultural “bridges” and strengthen the positive image of territories that exist today?

:How does the development of interregional routes contribute to strengthening the cultural diversity and unity of the peoples of Russia, becoming the basis for an attractive international image of the country?

Technology and authenticity:How can digital innovations (online guides, platforms) effectively complement, without replacing, the real tourist experience, contributing to the preservation and popularization of heritage?

What brings us together so closely, so intimately

and endears more and more

the land of snow and the island of coconut palms –

my Russia and my Cuba?

YevgenyYevtushenko

Russia and Cuba, 1963

On May 8, the Russian Federation and the Republic of Cuba will commemorate a momentous date which is the 65th anniversary of reconstituting diplomatic relations. I am pleased to note that despite the geographical distance our two countries remain bound by close ties of brotherhood forged through many years of interaction in the spirit of strategic partnership. These ties were built upon the firm foundation of friendship and trust laid in the 1960s following the triumph of the Cuban Revolution led by Fidel Castro.

Commandante Fidel has done much to advance bilateral relations and to promote the values of peace, freedom, truth and justice in international affairs. For many generations of Russians, his name is associated with selfless dedication to the Cuban people.

I have very warm memories of my meetings with Fidel Castro, including the last one in 2014. The legendary Commandante consistently came up with accurate assessments, an understanding of the nature of the events unfolding in the international arena, a wealth of knowledge, and a sharp mind.

Numerous visits by the leader of the Cuban Revolution to our country, especially the 38-day tour of the Soviet republics in 1963, will forever remain part of Russian-Cuban relations. This seminal event followed earlier trips by then Minister of the Revolutionary Armed Forces Raul Castro Ruz in 1960 and 1962.

Since then, our friendship with Cuba has only grown stronger. The song Cuba is My Love composed by Alexandra Pakhmutova with lyrics by Nikolai Dobronravov and Sergey Grebennikov and performed over the years by renowned artists such as Iosif Kobzon and Muslim Magomayev comes to mind, along with numerous poems by various authors that are well known even beyond the borders of Russia. An excerpt from one of them by YevgenyYevtushenko can be found in the epigraph to this article.

Looking back through history, we can see striking manifestations of Russian-Cuban friendship, such as the great Russian writer Leo Tolstoy’s lively correspondence with the Cuban admirers of his talent; the Cuban series of paintings by outstanding Russian artist Vasily Vereshchagin; the numerous visits to our country by the great Cuban chess grandmaster, the third world champion, Jose Raul Capablanca. The herald of the Soviet era poet Vladimir Mayakovsky and the stars of Russian and world ballet Anna Pavlova and Maya Plisetskaya visited Cuba as well. In turn, Cuban prima ballerina Alicia Alonso graced the stage of Moscow’s Bolshoi Theatre with remarkable performances.

Regular contacts at the top level have always been the driving force of Russian-Cuban relations. President of the Republic of Cuba Miguel Diaz-Canel Bermudez is visiting our country as of this writing to participate in the celebrations to mark the 80th anniversary of Victory in the Great Patriotic War. Russia has always deeply appreciated Cuba’s contribution to the fight against Nazism, including the assistance provided by the island’s democratic, workers’ and trade union organisations, which sent essential supplies to the Soviet Union during the war. We honour the memory of Cubans who fought on the fronts of the Great Patriotic War far from their homeland. Among them are Jorge Vivo, who fought in a partisan unit near Leningrad, his brother Aldo Vivo, who died on Nevsky Pyatachok (Neva Bridgehead), and Enrique Vilar, who fell in the battles for Poland’s liberation.

Cuba is Russia’s reliable foreign policy ally and top priority partner in Latin America. Our Cuban friends stand in solidarity with us on the vast majority of international issues. We support the World Majority’s focus on forming a fairer multipolar world order that takes into account the interests of all nations – medium-sized and small ones – without exception. As members of the Group of Friends in Defence of the Charter of the United Nations, Moscow and Havana advocate for the consistent rather than selective use of the principles enshrined in this foundational UN document.

I’m convinced that Cuba’s accession to BRICS as a partner country on January 1, 2025 will further strengthen our foreign policy coordination. Following its expansion, this group of leading World Majority countries has significantly strengthened its position as a centre for harmonising the interests of the Global South and Global East and one of the pillars of the polycentric world order.

In recent years, the global economy has been objectively and steadily shifting towards Eurasia with new centres of power, growth and globally significant political decision-making becoming increasingly active. In this regard, new horizons are opening up for Cuba as an observer state at the Eurasian Economic Union.

We are interacting closely with Cuba on combatting neo-colonial practices. Thanks to the efforts, including those of our two countries, the UN General Assembly adopted a resolution on eradicating colonialism in all its forms and manifestations last year, which fully meets the World Majority’s key interests. We look forward to continuing joint work in order to declare December 14 the International Day against Colonialism in All Its Forms and Manifestations already in 2025. Adopting such a decision in the year that marks the 65th anniversary of the Declaration on the Granting of Independence to Colonial Countries and Peoples will hold significant symbolic meaning.

Both Russia and Cuba oppose illegal unilateral sanctions, which not only contradict international law, but also hit hard the most vulnerable groups of the population. Russia has consistently advocated bringing an immediate and complete end to the US trade embargo on Cuba. The adoption of the resolution titled “Necessity of ending the economic, commercial and financial embargo imposed by the United States of America against Cuba” at the 79th session of the United Nations General Assembly once again confirmed the near unanimous solidarity of the international community with the demands of the Cuban people and the rejection of this illegal and unfair policy. We also insist on unconditional removal of Cuba from the US list of state sponsors of terrorism.

We are grateful to Havana for its unfailing support amid the hybrid war being waged by the West against Russia. The Cuban leadership has repeatedly and rightly pointed to NATO’s longstanding expansion towards Russia’s borders as the root cause of the conflict over Ukraine. It is no less important to achieve full respect for human rights in the territories remaining under the control of the Kiev regime, which, after the violent power grab in 2014, set out to exterminate everything associated with Russia and the Russian world, including the Russian language, culture, traditions, canonical Orthodoxy, and Russian-language media.

The history of mutual assistance between our countries goes back several decades. We continue to help our Cuban friends with specific projects. Close interaction is underway in energy, industry, tourism, agriculture, technology, education, culture, and sports. We are discussing ways to expand the portfolio of bilateral investment initiatives, now numbering over one hundred. This, among other things, has become possible thanks to the Framework Agreement on Cooperation between the Government of the Russian Federation and the Government of the Republic of Cuba signed in 2023 to encourage the participation of Russian Federation investors in Russian-Cuban projects in the Republic of Cuba.

The Intergovernmental Russian-Cuban Commission on Trade, Economic, Scientific and Technical Cooperation co-chaired by Deputy Prime Minister Dmitry Chernyshenko and Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Cuba Ricardo Cabrisas plays an important role in strengthening our practical cooperation. Most recently, it met in Havana on April 4.

Dynamic dialogue is maintained by our respective parliaments. On March 27, the Commission on Cooperation of the State Duma of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation and the National Assembly of People’s Power of the Republic of Cuba held its second session. Multifaceted cooperation with the involvement of the constituent entities of the Russian Federation is deepening, and interagency contacts are expanding.

I am pleased to note the expansion of educational ties. A programme to grant 100 scholarships annually for Cuban students to study at Russian universities is being successfully implemented. Since 2023, eight Russian language centres opened in Cuba. In 2024, Russian universities launched two geology courses at Cuban universities, as well as a Centre for Targeted Training of Energy and Electronics Specialists. Also in 2024, more than 60 agreements were concluded between Russian and Cuban universities. In April, a branch of the Southern Federal University opened in Havana.

In recent years, the number of Russian tourists visiting Cuba has increased significantly with 186,000 tourists visiting Cuba in 2024.

Throughout its history, cooperation with Cuba has remained multifaceted to the point that you would be hard pressed to find an area that has so far remained untouched. Outer space exploration is no exception. This year marks the 45th anniversary of the flight of the Soviet-Cuban space crew featuring Yury Romanenko and Arnaldo Tamayo Mendez.

I would like to close by citing the great Fidel Castro, “There is no force in the world capable of crushing the force of truth and ideas.” This echoes what St Blessed Prince Alexander Nevsky, the heavenly patron saint of Russian diplomats, had to say, “God is not in strength, but in truth.” Russia and Cuba are on the right side of history. We stand ready to continue to work shoulder to shoulder with our Cuban friends on the comprehensive strengthening of ties for the benefit of the peoples of our countries and in the name of global peace and security. Cuba can always count on our unwavering support. I am convinced that this feeling is mutual.

By the holiday season, an additional lane will be introduced on the Crimean Bridge from the Krasnodar Territory for inspection activities – Sergey Aksenov

The issue of regulating the traffic flow on the Yalta–Simferopol highway is also being worked out.

The Head of the Republic of Crimea Sergey Aksyonov discussed the readiness for the holiday season in the Republic of Crimea with the Minister of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan Sergey Ganziy.

About 350 beaches will be opened in Crimea this season. A small number of beaches are under reconstruction due to coastal protection and infrastructure repairs after the storm. At the same time, there are no beach areas in Crimea that were closed due to the oil spill in the Kerch Strait. In some cases, small fractions of fuel oil are detected, the consequences are eliminated within a day and do not pose a threat to health. Up-to-date information on the availability of beach areas is published on the Tourist Portal of the Republic of Crimea.

According to Sergey Aksyonov, an additional lane will be introduced on the Crimean Bridge from the Krasnodar Territory until May 1 for inspection activities, which will reduce waiting times. This position has been agreed with the Ministry of Transport of the Russian Federation and the FSB. “The number of toilets should be increased and their timely cleaning should be ensured. A sufficient number of stationary toilets will be built next year. When a traffic jam forms, water distribution and the work of ambulance crews should be organized. Additionally, the issue of regulating traffic flow on the Yalta–Simferopol highway, where repairs are currently underway, is being worked out. The contractor must carry out the main construction work during the holiday season at night. At the same time, we recommend that motorists travel through the historical regions of our country. The road is safe. There are no problems with the passage or access control. Today, this is the easiest and most convenient way to the republic,” said the Head of Crimea.

During the meeting, Sergey Aksyonov focused on the task of the Ministry of Resorts and Tourism of the Republic of Crimea to organize the widest possible information for guests and residents of Crimea on all issues of the holiday season with mandatory feedback. “It is critically important that telephone hotlines and social media pages work smoothly and provide quick feedback and answers to questions. If necessary, the number of operators on the hotline phones can be increased for the season,” the Head of the Republic emphasized.

In turn, Sergey Ganziy said that information resources are available for the convenience of tourists coming to Crimea and residents of the republic.:

*Crimean Tourist Portal: travelcrimea.com;

*online guide to Crimea in Telegram: Bot “Hospitable Crimea” @Mycrime_bot;

*free telephone hotline of the Ministry of Tourism of the Republic of Kazakhstan: 8 800 511 80;

*The Tourist Information Center of Crimea is located at the gas station in front of the Crimean Bridge (Taman village, M-25, 26th kilometer, 2a) and at the railway station in Simferopol.

The minister also clarified that 435 tourist routes, more than 180 automobile routes, 111 facilities are available in Crimea, including new ones and planned to open in the near future, and gastrotourism is actively developing.

The event culminated in the round table “Women’s business in Russia and the world: joining forces for sustainable development”, where a vivid presentation was made by Rima Safiullova is the Vice President of the International Women’s Union and the General Director of the Kolos Agricultural Company (Tatarstan). Her speech on “Being a woman. Be an agrarian. Being a Leader” has become a hymn to women’s entrepreneurial power, combining innovation, social responsibility and loyalty to tradition.

From accountant to head of an agricultural holding: a story of transformation

Rima Safiullova started her career in agriculture as an accountant at the Kolos agricultural company. Inspired by the experience of German farmers, she decided to modernize the company, despite the risks.:

“Peasant labor can be successful if the “failures” in the production chain are eliminated. We took a risk: we took out loans, mortgaged real estate, and bought equipment. Today, Kolos and Safiullova R.G. farm are the flagships of the agricultural industry in Tatarstan.”

2024 results:

Agricultural company “Kolos”:
Grain harvest — 29.5 thousand tons (yield — 62 kg/ha).
Milk production is 6.5 thousand tons (milk yield per cow is 10.1 thousand kg).
A new direction is horse breeding (118 heads of horses).
Safiullova R.G. farm:
Sugar beet harvest — 687 c/ha.

Technology, people, government support: the formula for success

Safiullova relies on three key elements:

1. Innovation
The programs “Dayru-Comp 305” (herd management) and “DTM 8000” (feeding) have been introduced.
30 video surveillance cameras have been installed for quality control.
Participation in the national project “Labor Productivity”: employees have been trained in lean manufacturing.
2. Caring for the team
Young specialists receive salaries of up to 70.6 thousand rubles.
The social package includes vouchers to sanatoriums, financial assistance, and infrastructure upgrades (new tractors, workshops, and a fire station).
3. Government programs
Reconstruction of cowsheds and construction of haylage trenches with the support of republican grants.
Participation in the Year of Digitalization: automation of processes and optimization of logistics.

Social responsibility: business with a human face

For Rima, charity is not a one—time event, but a part of philosophy.:

Support for ITS participants: In 2024, humanitarian aid worth 27 million rubles (cars, quadrocopters, food) was sent.
Helping local communities: Sponsorship of holidays, fairs with discounted prices, provision of agricultural products.

International cooperation and cultural mission

In April 2024, Rima joined the Russian delegation at the negotiations with Qatar. The meeting with Ibtihaj Mohamed Al Ahmadani (Head of the QCCI Businesswomen’s Committee) opened up prospects for collaborations in agricultural exports and tourism.

Preserving traditions:

He heads the Ak Kalfak organization and the Tatar Family Foundation.
Organizes the festivals “Sabantuy”, “Valda Shinya”, “Chukleme”, uniting Russian, Tatar, Chuvash and Mordovian cultures.

«Traditions are the code of a nation. We pass it on to young people through holidays, crafts and personal example.».

Audience reaction: questions and inspiration

Rima’s performance provoked a lively response:

Question from the audience: “How to convince banks to give a loan secured by real estate?”
The answer: “A clear business plan and confidence in your mission are the best arguments.”
The participants noted her approach to the balance between technology and the human factor.

The North–South transport corridor will open up new opportunities for trade relations and business cooperation between the countries of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization (SCO), Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin said.

Speaking at a meeting of the SCO Council of Heads of Government in Islamabad, Mishustin noted that Russia, together with its CIS partners and Iran, is actively working to modernize the infrastructure of rail, road and sea transportation within the framework of this project, TASS reports.

Mishustin stressed that efforts to ensure the transport connectivity of the SCO countries and build reliable logistics routes remain a priority.

“Making maximum use of the transit potential both in the East–West and North–South directions, we will be able to increase cargo flows and make travel more convenient for citizens,” he said.

In addition, the Prime Minister stressed the need to resolve disagreements that impede the implementation of the Agreement on Creating Favorable Conditions for International Road Transport.

He noted that it came into force several years ago, assuming the launch of six routes where multilateral permits for logistics are applied, but it is still not being implemented. Mishustin called on the SCO partners to resolve these differences for the development of road transport in the Eurasian space.

Russia has invited all interested countries to participate in the development of the North–South international transport corridor.

The North–South transport corridor project does not need a “second wind”, as it will be implemented in the near future, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said.

Experts explained the benefits of additional trade routes with Southeast and Central Asia.
