Maksat Mamytkanov, Minister of Customs Cooperation of the Eurasian Economic Commission, took part in the scientific and practical conference “Single Market of E-Commerce Goods: Marketplaces on the Agenda of the EAEU”, dedicated to development of e-commerce in the Eurasian Economic Union and combating counterfeiting.

The EEC Minister spoke about the main initiatives of the Commission to regulate cross-border electronic trade in the Union. Conference participants learned about the results of the EEC’s work on modernization of the Union’s law, including improvements to the EEU Customs Code as well as implementation of experiments in the member states to develop the institute of electronic trade.

“Development of trade requires strengthening cooperation between the international customs community through exchange of information, mutual recognition of control mechanisms and simplification of customs procedures,” said Maksat Mamytkanov.

According to him, the institute of electronic commerce is a “bridge” between consumers and producers around the world, and now it is necessary to create a flexible legal framework, which provides strengthening of the dialogue between customs and business in this promising project.
