Natalia Zhukova, Director of the Department of Sanitary, Phytosanitary and Veterinary Measures of the Eurasian Economic Commission, spoke about the main development trends of Eurasian integration and the prospects for creating equal conditions for the protection of consumer rights in the Eurasian Economic Union at a working group meeting on ensuring development of the national consumer rights protection system, which was held in the Federation Council of the Federal Assembly of the Russian Federation.

“The idea of Eurasian economic integration based on consumer rights is enshrined in the Treaty on EAEU and is one of the areas of development of the Union until 2025,” said Natalia Zhukova. – “The task of the member states and the Commission in today’s environment is to find tactical solutions to ensure the interests of fair business and to preserve the ability of consumers to receive safe and quality goods and services along the general course of economic and social reforms.

According to Natalia Zhukova, the most important document aimed at creating conditions for maintaining a balance of interests of consumers and businesses is the Program of joint actions of the Eurasian Economic Union member states in the field of consumer protection adopted by the Eurasian Intergovernmental Council in June this year.

Also a key decision is the adoption in November 2022 of a list of priority measures aimed at protecting consumer rights to minimize the risks of the population in the current economic environment.

Among the important activities carried out by the Commission together with the allied countries – information support for citizens, increasing the preventive role of the system of measures of state control, the organization of effective interaction with the business, the introduction of good business practices with respect to consumers.
