Russia and Turkey confirmed the package nature of the grain deal

The Russian Foreign Ministry said that full and conscientious implementation of the agreements will help, first of all, countries in need in Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as ensure global food security.

The package nature of the grain deal was confirmed during consultations between Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Vershinin and his Turkish counterpart Sedat Onal held in Istanbul on December 8-9. This is stated in a statement issued on Saturday by the Russian Foreign Ministry.

“The interlocutors reviewed the implementation of the Istanbul agreements of July 22. The package nature of the agreements was confirmed – the Black Sea initiative for the export of Ukrainian food and the Russia-UN memorandum on the promotion of Russian fertilizers and agricultural products to world markets,” the ministry said.

“It was noted that the full and conscientious implementation of these agreements will help, first of all, countries in need in Africa, Asia and Latin America, as well as ensure global food security, which is the main objectives of the deal,” the Foreign Ministry said.

The diplomatic department stressed that “the consultations confirmed the mutual commitment to further strengthen bilateral coordination and constructive cooperation” at the UN platform based on its Charter.
