On December 9, 2022, the 9th Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the SCO member States was held under the chairmanship of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan in an online format.
The Meeting was attended by Minister of Law and Justice of the Republic of India Kiren Rijiju, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Republic of Kazakhstan Mukanova Alma Kairatovna, Minister of Justice of the People’s Republic of China Tan Yijun, Deputy Minister of Justice of the Kyrgyz Republic Baktiyar Saipidinovich Orozov, Minister of Law and Justice of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, State Secretary-Deputy Minister of Justice of the Russian Federation Loginov Andrey Viktorovich, Minister of Justice of the Republic of Tajikistan Ashurien Muzaffar Kurbonmukhammad, The Minister of Justice of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akbar Dzhurabayevich Taskulov, and Erik Sarsebekovich Ashimov, Deputy Secretary General of the SCO.
The meeting was chaired by Senator Azam Nazir Tarar, Minister of Law and Justice of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan.
During the Meeting, the parties discussed innovations in the activities of the Ministries of Justice of the SCO member states, their role in the digitalization of areas within their competence, expressed readiness to further improve cooperation between the ministries of justice of the SCO member states.
The meeting participants also discussed issues related to the provision of legal services to individuals and/or legal entities, and stressed that the development of information technologies in the provision of services remains one of the main tasks of the Ministries of law and Justice of the SCO member states.
It was agreed to continue work on the implementation of the Cooperation Agreement between the Ministries of Law and Justice of the SCO member states, signed in Dushanbe on August 18, 2015, organization of mutual visits of representatives of ministries, holding SCO regional conferences, bilateral symposiums, seminars, workshops and joint courses on topical legal issues.
Following the Meeting, a Joint statement was signed.
The next anniversary 10th Meeting of the Ministers of Justice of the SCO member states will be held in 2023 in the People’s Republic of China.
