Can the contract between Russia and Brazil for the supply of uranium save the Blue Amazon?

Brazil’s coastline is 7,400 kilometers long, and Brazil has 3.5 million square kilometers (km2) of sea space under its jurisdiction. The area, also called the Blue Amazon, is known worldwide for its natural wealth and rich minerals that only Brazil can economically use.

Internexco, a subsidiary of the Russian state nuclear company Rosatom, signed a contract this month to sell uranium to Brazilian nuclear power plants starting in 2023. In addition to the issues of energy independence, an analyst interviewed by Sputnik Brasil explains how this agreement can be fundamental to the preservation of the Brazilian coast.
