Bolivia warns of the risk of 40% of the world’s indigenous languages disappearing
Bolivian Deputy Foreign Minister Freddy Mamani warned of the risk of the disappearance of 40% of indigenous languages in the world at the opening of the Decade of Indigenous Languages 2022-2032 at UNESCO headquarters in France.
The Bolivian diplomat pointed out that about 550 native languages are spoken in Latin America and are in a vulnerable state, and more than 50% are at risk of silencing.
