An experiment on the introduction of a four-day working week at industrial enterprises will begin in Spain this week.

The Ministry of Industry, Trade and Tourism of Spain will allocate up to 150 thousand euros to small and medium-sized enterprises that will introduce a four-day working week without reducing employee wages. This was reported on Monday by RTVE TV and radio company.

According to her, the initiative of the authorities appears in the plan of the pilot project, which is expected to be presented in the coming days. Companies will have to reduce the working week of their employees by at least 10% and adhere to this plan for at least two years. It is expected that the initiative will be extended to 60-70 small and medium-sized enterprises.

In total, the project budget provides for the allocation of €10 million. This was agreed between the kingdom government and the party Mas Pais, when supporters of this political force supported the draft state budget for 2022.

Earlier, the Portuguese authorities also announced plans to conduct an experiment to introduce a four-day working week in both the public and private sectors. At the same time, as the newspaper El Pais reported, the Government of the republic will not subsidize enterprises participating in the pilot project in order to obtain an objective assessment.
