The meeting of the Foreign Ministers of Japan and Central Asian countries will be held in Tokyo on December 24

Japanese Foreign Minister Yoshimasa Hayashi will hold a meeting in Tokyo on December 24 with his colleagues from Central Asian countries – Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Tajikistan, Turkmenistan and Uzbekistan. This was reported on Thursday by the Japanese Foreign Ministry.

It is noted that during the negotiations the parties will discuss joint cooperation, issues of sustainable development of the Central Asian region. In addition, international issues, including the situation in Ukraine and Afghanistan, will be on the agenda. According to the Japanese Foreign Ministry, Hayashi will also hold several bilateral meetings with his colleagues.

The current negotiations will be the ninth in a row in this format. It has been in existence since 2004.

Japan has recently been paying great attention to the development of relations with the countries of Central Asia. In November, the Association of Members of Parliament for Friendship between Japan and Central Asian Countries was established in Tokyo. It was headed by the deputy chairman of the ruling Liberal Democratic Party, former Prime Minister Taro Aso. In early December, the Central Asian Investment Forum (Central Asia Investment Forum 2022) was also held in the Japanese capital with the participation of representatives of the authorities and businesses of the countries of the region.
