KADES app – to help women facing violence in Turkey

KADES (Kadın Destek Uygulaması) is the official free application of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Turkey, which helps to prevent violence against women and children.

The application can be downloaded to your smartphone via the Google Play Store or the App Store. It is an alarm button that can be pressed if a woman is in danger from her spouse or any other man. After downloading the application, an identification number is entered on the territory of Turkey: it can be a Turkish kimlik or the number of a foreigner’s kimlik. Then the application needs to be activated using a special code that will come in the form of an SMS message.

Don’t forget to give the app permission to determine geolocation. If you find yourself in an emergency situation and violent actions are applied to you in Turkey, you need to open the application and press the alarm button. Your request for help will be immediately sent to the police station and the patrol closest to your location will arrive in 10 minutes!

The KADES app has been downloaded over one million times. In 2021, the Women’s Emergency Assistance Application (KADES) was awarded the Mediterranean Parliamentary Assembly Award.
