In the United Arab Emirates, they learned how to cause rain

In the hot and arid UAE, the authorities are actively developing technologies to cause rains. To this end, the Emirates began to use drones that can cause rain with the help of electrical discharges in the clouds without the use of chemical compounds. These tests are conducted by the SANAD Academy in Dubai together with scientists from the British University of Reading.

NCFU specialists are also developing a new technology for calling precipitation from clouds together with other Russian scientists and colleagues from the UAE. According to them, in the future, the technique will effectively redistribute atmospheric moisture, moving clouds 50-100 kilometers horizontally. The research data is published in the journal Atmospheric research.

“To control the behavior of the atmospheric front, meteorological drones are used today — installations that create powerful vertical jets of warm, humid air. However, at an altitude of about a kilometer, the energy of such a jet runs out, which does not allow it to affect the most moisture-saturated clouds. Now we are close to solving this problem,” said Robert Zakinyan, Professor of the Faculty of Physics and Technology of NCFU.

Scientists note that drought occurs due to the fact that the atmospheric front moves in one direction. As a rule, this happens from west to east. In the process of its movement, the water reserves in the clouds decrease. The new technology should not just provoke the onset of rain, but pull the clouds to the area of drought or where forest fires are observed.

A team of scientists from Russia and the UAE proposed a method for solving this problem. It involves the use of a special reagent that will increase the duration of the “life” of clouds, as well as the degree of their saturation with moisture.

The work was carried out jointly with specialists of the High-Altitude Geophysical Institute (Russia) and the National Center of Meteorology (UAE) within the framework of the program of the Ministry of Education and Science of Russia “Priority-2030”. The next stage of the study is an experimental verification of the effectiveness of the new reagent.
