From December 16 to January 23, the Moscow Gallery of Oriental Painting will host an exhibition dedicated to the symbol of the Chinese New Year 2023 – the black water rabbit.

The exhibition will feature works by two artists: Wang Dongmei (China, painting and graphics) and Nikita Strukov (Russia, miniature sculpture).

The union of two creative personalities who came from different cultures – China and Russia, leads not only to the birth of completely unique views on traditional topics, but also to the embodiment of their ideas in an unexpected perspective.

The main character of the exhibition and an example of the versatility of interpretation of the same image will be the symbol of the year taken from the Chinese zodiac. In 2023, it will be the symbol of the Rabbit, which has a deep inner subtext, intertwining the entire cultural code of an entire civilization. Every little aspect of this symbol leads a long way to knowledge from legends, philosophy, traditions, beliefs and ceremonies, revealing the world of China from an unexpected side.
