The Museum of Ethnography of Moldova will host a carpet fair

The National Centre of Preservation and Promotion of the Intangible Cultural Heritage and the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum, under the aegis of Moldova’s Culture Ministry, will organize the ninth edition of the National Carpet Fair, titled, Carpet of Longing, on 17 December 2022. The event will take place at the National Ethnography and Natural History Museum.

According to the organizers, the National Carpet Fair is dedicated to one of the most important work of popular art – Carpet. This given the registration of the Traditional techniques of making carpet in Romania and Moldova in UNESCO’s Representative List of Intangible Cultural Heritage of Humanity on 1 December 2016.

The Fair’s goal is to re-bring to citizens’ attention old carpets – a particularly valuable treasure preserved in collections of Moldova’s museums.

Artisans who create works of various types, which highlight the originality and creativeness of the Romanians, as well as the adhesion to ancestors’ values, will participate in the Fair.

The first issue of the National Carpet Fair took place in 2014.
