The Ministry of Transport of Kyrgyzstan has launched a pilot project for the construction of a stone road in the Batken region.

A road and sidewalks made of natural stone will be built in the village of Dobo in the Kara-Bak district in the Batken district. The project cost is 19.5 million soms. This was reported in the press service of the Ministry of Transport.

The customer of the project is the road maintenance Department No. 2 of the State Enterprise “Kyrgyzavtozhol”, the contractor is the Jalal-Abad asphalt-concrete plant. The project includes 3 km of road and two sidewalks on two streets with a total length of 1,380 m.

The width of the roadbed adjacent to the main street is 7 m, of which the laying of 3.6 m by 0.7 m with stone and the fixing of the edge with an asphalt concrete coating is 1.4 m. 1 m on both sides will be a curb made of sand and gravel mixture.

There will also be a two-way sidewalk on the central street of the village of Dobo with a width of 1.7 m. There will also be a one-way sidewalk at the kindergarten.

Currently, a natural stone cutting plant has been put into operation in the village of Dobo and the foundation of 1 km of a road section for paving with natural stone has been prepared.

“If the pilot project gives a positive result, this method of paving a road section will be considered as a national project and will eventually be implemented throughout the republic,” the Ministry of Transport said.
