A high-precision Russian weather network will appear in the marine and coastal zones of the Arctic next year.

This was announced by the director of the Arctic Research Institute Alexander Makarov. There will be 42 stations with domestic measuring instruments in the network. They will be able to transmit information hourly — about ice drift, currents, water and air temperature, snow and ice thickness.

The points will be installed on the mainland and sections of the Northern Sea Route, which will increase the safety of vessel movement.
