Within the framework of the III Russian-Chinese Youth Winter Games, a meeting of representatives of the delegations of Russia and China took place. The meeting was attended by the Deputy Minister of Sports of the Russian Federation Alexey Morozov, Deputy Head of the Main State Administration for Physical Culture and Sports of the People’s Republic of China Du Zhaocai, Vice Governor of Jilin Province Liu Kai and President of the Russian Ski Racing Federation, Head coach of the Russian Federation national ski racing team Elena Vyalbe.
The decision to hold the Years of Russian-Chinese Cooperation in the field of physical culture and sports in 2022-2023, adopted by the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin and Chinese President Xi Jinping, is an important step for the development and expansion of sports cooperation between Russia and China.
“I want to emphasize that, despite unprecedented sanctions pressure from Western countries, Russia does not close itself off from international contacts and competitions. We continue to successfully hold All-Russian and international competitions in an open format. Cooperation between the sports teams of Russia and China, holding training events at the sports bases of the two countries, as well as interaction within the framework of the exchange of experience during major national and international sports competitions has great potential,” the Deputy Minister said.
At the end of November, the first meeting of the Russian part of the Organizing Committee for the Years was held in Moscow, following which a Plan of major events was approved. In total, the Russian part of the Plan includes 448 joint initiatives in the field of high-performance sports, mass, youth, student sports, as well as regional cooperation and other branches of physical culture and sports.
The events are planned to be held both on the territory of Russia and on the territory of China. The Plan also includes more than 100 events already held during the year. Joint training events of Russian and Chinese volleyball teams are being held in Russia, and hockey clubs from China have been playing in the Kontinental Hockey League and Women’s Hockey League for the seventh season.
In 2023, Yekaterinburg will host an International university Sports Festival among university teams from the BRICS, SCO and CIS countries.
