The updated unit can be used for another 30 years.
BISHKEK, Sputnik reports The fourth hydroelectric unit of the Toktogul HPP has been commissioned, the press service of the Ministry of Energy reported.
Construction and installation work has been completed. The installation with a nominal capacity of 350 megawatts was tested for half a month.
Energy Minister Taalaibek Ibrayev stressed that a lot of effort has been invested in the operation of GA No. 4. According to him, the unit will be operated for 30 years.

“Providing people with high—quality electricity and “bringing” them out of winter without freezing is the direct responsibility of power engineers. Today we are entering winter with four hydraulic units that we have operated for at least 30 years. Today, after reconstruction, a 360 megawatt hydroelectric unit has been put into operation, and previously it was 300 megawatts. And thus the total capacity is 1,260 megawatts, and as a result, after the completion of the reconstruction of all units, the increase in capacity will be 240 megawatts and the commissioning of the updated unit can be called a great achievement for the energy industry,” Ibrayev said.

In case of renewal and commissioning of all four hydroelectric units, another 240 megawatts of capacity will be added, which will be equivalent to the construction of a new hydroelectric power station.
In November, hydraulic unit No. 2 was put into operation. Because of this, temporary blackouts were observed.
