Digital tenge will be introduced in Kazakhstan in stages until 2025

ASTANA Sputnik reports President of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev received Chairman of the National Bank Galymzhan Pirmatov.
The Head of State heard a report on the preliminary results of the implementation of the monetary policy by the National Bank for January-November 2022, Akorda reports.
Galymzhan Pirmatov spoke about the situation on foreign and domestic markets, the dynamics and forecast of inflation, as well as the state of gold and foreign exchange reserves.
It was noted that the measures of the National Bank give positive results, such as the growth of deposits in tenge to a historical maximum, the stabilization of the foreign exchange market and the continued growth of lending to the economy.

“The President was informed about the results of the study on the need to introduce the digital tenge. Galymzhan Pirmatov reported on the successful testing of the platform with market participants, real consumers and trade and service enterprises,” the message reads.

The introduction of the national digital currency will increase the availability of non-cash payments, transparency of public spending and open up opportunities for the creation of innovative financial products.
The Chairman of the National Bank noted that the introduction of the digital tenge will be implemented in 3 phases by the end of 2025. The Head of State gave instructions for the further implementation of the project.
Following the meeting, Kassym-Jomart Tokayev set a number of tasks aimed at the effective implementation of monetary policy.
